SURREY - A jealous Vancouver woman who murdered her Surrey lover by stabbing him in the neck has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole eligibility for 10 years.

Tammy Myran, 26, was sentenced in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster Friday for killing Abdu Basir Ghulam Mohammad, 33, in his apartment in the 11000-block of 136th Street in Whalley on Oct. 4, 2008.

"This is a very successful outcome to a very tragic and unnecessary death," remarked Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokeswoman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Unit.

Meanwhile, IHIT has arrested two young men for the Dec. 2, 2011 murder of Branson Sanders, 20, who police believe was killed in Surrey.

His severely burned body was found in Burnaby.

Police believe Sanders was killed at residence in the 18000-block of 55th Avenue in Cloverdale. They've charged Burnaby resident Shakib Shakib with second-degree murder.

A Surrey man, also 19, is also expected to be charged with second-degree murder but his name won't be released until the charge is sworn.

"Investigators believe there were several witnesses within the residence at the time Branson was killed," Pound said. "We are asking for those people top come forward and speak with IHIT investigators."
