SURREY - The Surrey Pride Festival took over Holland Park in north Surrey on Sunday for the celebration's 13th year.

"It went incredibly well," said Dr. Jen Marchbank, president of the Surrey Pride Society. "We were larger than we've ever been and our performers were fantastic."

The stage included performances by the Goatface Killaz, Sugarbeach and Matthew Presidente, as well as local singer Jennifer Geddes and opera singer Dustin Hiles.

"We're possibly the only Pride that has an opera singer," said Marchbank. "It's fairly unique."

MP Jasbir Sandhu, Coun. Linda Hepner and MLAs Sue Hammell, Gordon Hogg and Stephanie Cadieux came out to show their support for Surrey's LGBTQ community.

More than 20 volunteers from as young as 11 helped out as large crowds moved through the park throughout the day, nearing last year's attendance of 2,500.

"Looking around the park, it was just never-ending," said Marchbank. "It was just constantly busy."
