Nanaimo RCMP are looking for any video of a recent ferry rage incident involving a Surrey man.

On Sunday, Aug. 19 at about 4:45 p.m., police were called to help deal with a man who was irate to learn there was a three-sailing wait at the BC Ferries terminal. A traffic controller had asked the 65-year-old Surrey man to move his car, but he refused.

An officer arrived and talked to the man, explaining there was no room for more vehicles and that the man would have to leave and come back later.

The suspect then drove his 1998 blue Volvo onto the sidewalk. The officer asked the man to show his driver's licence and registration and, in response, the man drove off.

The car was found shortly after at Stewart Avenue, but as the man was being arrested for obstruction, he put the Volvo into gear and tried to drive off again.

According to a police report, the officer - concerned for the safety of pedestrians and others in traffic in the area - jumped into the car and put it into park.

Nanaimo RCMP said more officers were needed to arrest the irate man.
