A young Surrey man was critically injured and airlifted to hospital late Tuesday afternoon after his quad smashed head-on into a pickup truck.
The crash happened in the 13700-block of 192nd Street, at about 4:30 p.m. Police said the 22-year-old man had been following his girlfriend, who was driving a Dodge Durango, northbound on 192nd. She braked suddenly, thinking she missed the gravel pit where they'd planned to use the ATV.
The Surrey man, who wasn't wearing a helmet, veered left into oncoming traffic to miss the Durango, but ended up in the path of a southbound pickup truck pulling a utility trailer.
Nobody else was injured.
