A Cloverdale man was murdered on New Year's Eve, in Langley.

Homicide investigators aren't revealing how Cole Adam Manning, 40, died, or what they think the motive was.

The Langley RCMP found his body in a basement suite rented by the 24-year-old suspect, Jason Terrence Brewer, in the 19800-block of 69th Avenue, at about 7:30 a.m.

Police aren't revealing who made the call. Brewer was arrested less than two hours later in Aldergrove, on 264th Street just south of Highway 1.

Brewer has been charged with second-degree murder. "The victim and suspect are believed to be friends," said Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokeswoman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. "Investigators continue to explore the motive for this homicide. At this point we can say this is not gang related."
