NEWTON — Sheila Fedoruk made a promise to shave her head if her granddaughter's school raised enough money for cancer reasearch, and on Friday, Sept. 27 she did just that.
As part of W.E. Kinvig Elementary’s Terry Fox Run celebrations, Fedoruk, who’s granddaughter attends the school, offered up her hair if the school was able to raise $500 for cancer research.
Having experienced cancer in her family, Fedoruk said the cause was meaningful for her. With the school ultimately raising $2,324, Fedoruk had her head shaved by Grade 7 teacher Mathew Zadvorny and granddaughter Ariel Nerada.
