BC Coroners Service has identified a Surrey man as one of three people who drowned on Okanagan Lake last weekend.
Mitesh Krishnil Gounder, 23, spent the afternoon on the Kelowna lake with a friend on Aug. 16. Around 6:45 p.m., he went for a swim and was seen to be in trouble in the water shortly after. No one was able to rescue him and emergency services responded. He was spotted from an RCMP helicopter the next morning and his body was recovered.
The other victims - 66-yearold Mervyn Kenneth Reinson of Langley and 73-year-old Randolph Peter Lundblad of Kaslo - died in separate incidents.
As summer continues, the BC Coroners Service reiterates the need for everyone engaging in recreational activities near water to take extra care for their own safety.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate the three deaths.
