SURREY — A thief slashed a Whalley man early Thursday morning after the victim heard a noise coming from his carport and went outside to see what was going on.
The victim, 47, stumbled across a thief who was rifling through his stuff. They grappled and the thief cut him with a sharp edged weapon before running away.
The victim's wife called 911 and an ambulance took him to hospital where he was treated for injuries that weren't life threatening.
"The police service dog attempted to track the suspect male from the location we was last seen but the track was lost," Surrey RCMP Staff Sgt. Murray Hedderson said.
The thief is white, about 40 years old, six feet tall, medium built, has a shaved head and wore a camouflaged style jacket.
The attack happened in the 9800-block of 138th Avenue, at about 2:30 a.m.
