The trial of three of the men charged in the Surrey Six murders has been moved to Vancouver.
Cody Haevischer, Matthew Johnston and Michael Le were to have gone on trial in B.C. Supreme Court in New Westminster but a change of venue was deemed necessary, according to a recent announcement from Associate Chief Justice Austin Cullen on the court's website.
"Although a number of pre-trial matters have been heard in New Westminister, the efficiency of the trial and the ability of the court to control its processes, all of which will serve the public interest, require that the location of the trial be moved to Vancouver," says the announcement.
The trial date is set for Sept. 16 at the moment but that may change as a pretrial conference in the case is expected to be heard Tuesday.
In October or 2007, six men were shot to death in a suite at Balmoral Tower apartment building. Two innocent bystanders were killed in the gang-related attack.
