What if your favourite community newspaper could come to life, link you to websites and increase accessibility to anyone regardless of literacy capabilities?

Well imagine no more, the Now newspaper is now able to do just that.

It's called Layar. It is an amazing new technology that brings print to life by adding digital content. It's as easy as downloading the Layar app to your iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone or tablet and using your phone's camera scanning over any ad/story where Layar has been enabled and instantly it comes to life.

You can now potentially see video, search websites (see page B4) or even shop online.

Possabilities sees this as a significant move for people with all kinds of abilities to become more engaged and increase access to their own communities.

Being able to link to agencies and businesses with interactive content will allow individuals to become aware of supports in the community and save time when searching for anything.

Community Living BC, which is the Crown agency that funds supports and services for adults with developmental disabilities in B.C., was the first advertiser to see the true creative opportunity to get their message out. Please check out their ad on page B2 and scan the page with your smart-phone to watch the message. This is a huge step in marketing, but better yet in linking and educating communities in a variety of ways.
