The City of White Rock will be shifting to a new garbage collection program starting in October.

In an effort to divert waste from landfills, garbage will only be picked up every two weeks. The residential recycling and green can pickup schedule will remain the same.

By shifting to a biweekly pickup, the city hopes to meet a 70 per cent waste diversion objective by 2015.
