SURREY – Streets and parks across Canada will be filled with Terry Fox Run participants this Sunday, Sept. 15.
The morning events are held to honour Fox, who set out in the spring of 1980 to raise money for cancer research during his nationwide "Marathon of Hope" run. Little more than a year later, he died of the disease at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.
The Terry Fox Run in the North Surrey-Fraser Heights area will be held at Fraser Heights rec centre, with registration starting at 9 a.m. and the run at 10 a.m. Surrey-Cloverdale's event will be at the Cloverdale Legion, with registration at 9 a.m. and the run at 10 a.m.
Surrey-Newton's run will be held at Bear Creek Park, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. The South Surrey-White Rock run is at Rotary Field House in South Surrey Athletic Park with the registration at 8 a.m. In North Delta, the run will be at Sungod Arena with registration at 9 a.m., run at 10 a.m. and close at noon.
