A White Rock author is making his debut into the writing world with a splash.
Geoffrey R. Tigg, a retired engineer and accountant, has brought his business acumen to bear on his love of storytelling.
Tigg is publishing his first four novels this year, all featuring the character of RCMP detective Kelly O’Brian, which also showcase the Lower Mainland and Gulf Islands as the backdrop for the series.
“My idea is that if you’re writing a series, it’s better to have one or two ready to go than just one and have people wait and then another one, particularly being a novice writer or shall we say an unknown writer,” Tigg said just days before his official book launch Sunday.
There are six altogether, with the last two partially finished.
Being a self-published author, he said, “You have to kind of park the writing and get on with the business side of marketing and that piece of it.”
He said the business side “takes more time than the writing.”
He set up his own imprint, Rushing Tide Media, to get the books into print, and works with a professional editor and support team that specializes in helping indie authors with the publishing side.
The book launch celebrated Tigg’s first two novels: Abused Trust, which begins with O’Brian investigating a grow-op and leads her to a trail of murders, corruption and betrayal.
The Painting sees the detective caught up in a murder investigation on Bowen Island that leads to an old case.
Both are available online at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
