Poor health has forced Alfie Zappacosta to postpone some concerts, including two originally booked at Blue Frog in White Rock this week (Nov. 22-23).
The dates have been moved to Jan. 25-26.
The shows will celebrate the release of Zappacosta's Live From Blue Frog DVD, recorded at the Johnston Road studio in June 2011.
"(Zappacosta) is resting comfortably and has been ordered not to travel for some time," said Blue Frog operator Kelly Breaks. "Alfie will be OK and will be back performing again in the new year."
Also of note at Blue Frog, Mud Bay Blues Band returns for "The Christmas Bash" on Saturday, Dec. 8. Prepare to dance - with or without special guests on the stage. Ticket details are online at bluefrogstudios.ca.
'BABIES' MUSIC AT MALL
JRfm's Basics for Babies concert "tour" of local malls hits Surrey's Central City on the morning of Monday, Dec. 3, with Chad Brownlee, Hayley (McLean) and Kylee Epp performing songs in a mostly acoustic setting.
The series of shows aims to collect money and baby-related products (food, diapers, etc.) for the country radio station's charity of choice, Basics for Babies.
The community that raises the most funds/goods will get to host a JRfm-backed concert next summer. For details about how to get involved, click on www.jrfm.com.
BREWER'S MUSIC SCHOOL MOVES
Todd Brewer School of Music is moving from Thrift Avenue in White Rock to a new location at Windsor Square mall in South Surrey, as of Dec. 17.
"Our new location will feature five new teaching classrooms as well as a fully equipped band room and a reception area," Brewer told the Now. "Our services will also expand to include some retail as well as repair service."
The new address is 1959 152nd St., in unit 90 - former home of Semiahmoo Arts.
CONCERTS OF NOTE
Jason Buie, David "Boxcar" Gates, Ellie Johnson and James "Buddy" Rogers unite for a Blues Guitar Summit concert Saturday night (Nov. 24) at Crescent Legion hall.
Tonight (Thursday), Prism and Doucette double up for a show at Cascades Casino in Langley (a Rock.It Boy show).
In other concert news, it wasn't a surprise to see Soundgarden's Feb. 10 date at the QE Theatre sell out in mere minutes - a venue too small for those Grunge granddaddies.
